Is my phone paid off?

When did your contract start?

The month is enough. Your first bill or your contract email will show it.

Some networks split your bill in two: one agreement for the phone and one for minutes, texts and data.

Not sure? Check your network's app for how much you use. In 2025 the average UK mobile data user got through about 12GB a month.Source: Ofcom, Communications Market Report 2026, published 30 June 2026, data for 2025

Your current monthly price. An estimate is fine if you don't have your bill to hand.

How do I find out when my phone contract ends?

What happens when my phone contract ends?

Your network must message you 10 to 40 days before your contract ends. The message shows your end date, what you'll pay afterwards, and its best deals. If your contract includes a phone, it must include at least one SIM only deal.

If you're already out of contract, your network must send you the same information once a year.

Nothing stops when the contract ends. You move to a rolling monthly plan until you change it, and your price may stay the same or change.

If you switch network using a PAC code, you don't pay notice charges after the switch date.

Some providers pay for higher placement in the Featured order.

Can I go SIM only after my contract ends?

Yes. Once your contract has ended, you can move to a SIM only deal with your current network or a new one, and keep using the phone you have. If you have a separate device plan, check that it's paid off too. The price check above can help.

Networks have not been allowed to sell locked phones since December 2021, so a phone bought from a network since then should work on any network.

Your network's end-of-contract message must include at least one SIM only deal if your contract included a phone. To move network and keep your number, text PAC to 65075.
